T9 Text Input makes entering text on your mobile
phone fast and easy. Unlike traditional multi-tap text
entry (which requires a user to press a key multiple
times to get to the desired letter), T9 technology
requires just one key press per letter.

Using multi-tap, it would have taken twice as many key presses to enter "how."
If more than one word shares the same numeric sequence, T9 Text Input provides the
most commonly used word, with the ability to scroll to the next most commonly used
word by pressing the 0 (NEXT) key.
Note:

Q. What is T9® Text Input?
A. T9 Text Input is software that enables users to easily enter text into small
devices with limited size keyboards, like mobile phones. T9 Text Input replaces
the traditional "multi-tap" method of entering text providing the ability to enter text
using only one keystroke per letter.
Q. How does the T9 technology work?
A. T9 Text Input gives the phone's standard keypad the capabilities of a full
keyboard requiring only one key press per letter. Using the letters on each
phone key and a highly compressed database, the T9 software translates key
press sequences into words. For example, to enter the word "how" you would
press three keys, 4-6-9. T9 Text Input knows that the most commonly used word
with the 4-6-9 numeric sequence is "how."
Q. What if the displayed word isn't your intended word?
A. T9 Text Input displays the intended word 95% of the time or more. If your
intended word is not initially displayed, it means it is not the most frequently used
word with that particular key sequence. In this instance, you just press the NEXT
key (typically the "0" key) to see additional word choices listed in the order of their
frequency in the language.
Q. What if the desired word is not in the T9 database?
A. With most mobile phones, if a word is not in the T9 database, you can add it
using "multi-tap" text entry. The word will be automatically added to the T9
database when you return to T9 input mode.

Per SMS auch über Internet erreichbar
Per SMS kann man jederzeit E-Mails erhalten und empfangen auf seinem Handy. Wenn das Handy einige Zeichen der
Internetwelt nicht unterstützen sollte, können ersatzweise andere Zeichen benutzt werden:

E-Mail als SMS empfangen

Da der Empfang von E-Mails ebenfalls gebührenpflichtig ist (0,39 DM je zugestellter E-Mail), schicken Sie vorab eine SMS mit dem Text OPEN an die Zielrufnummer 8000. Damit erst öffnen Sie Ihr Handy für den von Haus aus gesperrten
E-Mail-Empfang, denn wäre der E-Mail-Empfang von vornherein geöffnet, wäre es
möglich, dass unverlangte E-Mails (so genannte 'Spam') die Telefonrechnung
ungewollt in die Höhe treiben. Das ist nach dem OPEN-Befehl zwar immer noch
möglich, aber man kann sich durch eine Passwort-Funktion davor schützen. Für den
Versand von SMS als E-Mails ist der OPEN-Befehl nicht erforderlich. Wenn Sie
E-Mails versenden, erfolgt keine automatische Öffnung des E-Mail-Empfangs.
Sie können den Empfang von E-Mails sogar beschränken auf die Anzahl von E-Mails
pro Kalendertag und pro Monat. Hierzu geben Sie bei D1 einfach mit dem
OPEN-Befehl ein T (für Tagesmaximum) und/oder ein M (für Monatsmaximum) ein,
jeweils gefolgt von der gewünschten Anzahl. Wenn Sie keine Angaben machen,
erhalten Sie bis zu 10 E-Mails am Tag bzw. 100 im Monat. Beispiel:

Um den E-Mail-Empfang wieder zu deaktivieren, senden Sie eine SMS mit dem Text
CLOSE an die Zielrufnummer 8000. Bei der Deaktivierung bleiben die von Ihnen
gesetzten Werte sowie der Alias bestehen.
Um E-Mails auf dem Handy empfangen zu können, ist eine E-Mail-Adresse nötig.
Diese lautet standardmäßig:

Diese Adresse kann sich allerdings kaum jemand merken. Einfacher geht es mit
einem sogenannten Alias, der anstelle der Rufnummer benutzt werden kann. Damit
das Funknetz aber weiß, welchen Alias Sie wünschen, müssen Sie ihm diesen Alias
bekannt geben. Das geschieht so:

Beachten Sie, dass der Alias-Name aus maximal 20 Zeichen (A - Z, 0 - 9, _ und .)
bestehen darf. Die Einrichtung Ihres Alias-Namens wird nun quittiert und taucht
künftig anstelle Ihrer Rufnummer in der Absenderadresse auf. Jede Adresse ist
einmalig und kann nicht doppelt vergeben werden. Halten Sie Ihren Alias kurz,
denn umso mehr Text können Sie empfangen (Stichwort: 160 Zeichen max. je
SMS). Das Löschen eines Alias geschieht über das Wort DELALIAS, das Sie an die
Zielrufnummer 8000 senden.
Passwort-Funktion
Damit Sie nach Öffnung Ihres Handy für E-Mails jetzt aber nicht mit sogenannter
SPAM (SPAM = Werbe-E-Mails) zugeschüttet werden und dafür auch noch reichlich
zur Kasse gebeten werden, haben Sie die Möglichkeit, bis zu 5 Kennwörter
anzugeben. Die Freunde, die Ihnen E-Mails senden dürfen, bekommen jeweils ein
Kennwort, welches im Betreff der E-Mail genannt werden muss. Ist eines der
vorgegebenen Kennwörter im Betreff enthalten, wird die E-Mail für den Versand auf
das Handy freigegeben. Bei aktivierter Kennwortfunktion werden E-Mails ohne
Kennwort im Betreff nicht zum Handy durchgelassen. Für diese abgewiesene
E-Mails werden dem Empfänger keine Kosten berechnet. Benutzen Sie für die
Einrichtung von Kennwörtern den Befehl PW, den Sie an die Zielrufnummer 8000
senden. Beispiel für 4 Kennwörter:

Für Sie eingerichtete Passwörter: alpha beta gamma omega
Falls Sie Ihre Kennwörter vergessen haben, senden Sie einfach PW an die
Zielrufnummer 8000. Sie erhalten dann die gleiche Nachricht wie bei der
Einrichtung von Kennwörtern.
Ein Kennwort löschen Sie einfach mit dem Befehl DELPW, den Sie ebenfalls an die
Zielrufnummer 8000 senden. Beispiel:
DELPW gamma
Die Löschung des Kennwortes wird dann quittiert mit
Für Sie eingerichtete Passwörter: alpha beta omega
Werden alle Kennwörter gelöscht (wobei alle Kennwörter genannt werden müssen),
erhalten Sie ebenfalls einen Quittungstext.
Beispieltext: DELPW alpha beta omega
Quittung: Für Sie sind zur Zeit keine Paßwörter eingerichtet.
Wenn Sie sich nicht mehr sicher sind, welche E-Mail-Adresse Sie haben oder
wieviele E-Mails Sie freigegeben bzw. bereits empfangen haben, senden Sie eine
SMS mit dem Text STATUS an die Zielrufnummer 8000. Beispielantwort:
